NEW YORK (PIX11) – Hundreds of thousands of blood pressure medication pills are being recalled across the United States, according to the Federal Drug Administration.
Prazosin Hydrochloride (brand name Minipress) is being recalled because it may contain a cancer-causing compound that exceeds the acceptable intake limit for certain lots, according to the recall.
So far, two manufacturers, Amerisource Health Services LLC in Ohio and Teva Pharmaceuticals USA, Inc. in New Jersey, have issued voluntary recalls. Both companies issued a Class II recall, which means continued use of or exposure to the product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health effects, according to the definitions and guidelines set by the FDA.
