SOUTH FULTON, Ga. — Early voting is underway and this year, the residents in South Fulton will have nine candidates on their ballot running for mayor. Incumbent Mayor Khalid Kamau is running for another term.

The South Fulton native, who prefers to go by Mayor Kobi, announced in April that he would not seek re-election .

During his announcement he raised issues about the low salary his position paid, personal financial hardship, and division with his city council. But in August, he reversed that decision and entered the race.

Kamau was first elected in 2021, beating then incumbent William “Bill” Edwards with just over 59% of the vote in a runoff election.
