JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — It’s the showdown that splits the city in half and fills downtown with fans, fun, and foam fingers.
But before the Florida Gators and Georgia Bulldogs face off at EverBank Stadium , the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says it’s going all-in on keeping game day safe.
With about 500 officers stationed across downtown this weekend, JSO is partnering with several law enforcement agencies ensuring security is tightened from the tailgates to the touchdowns.
Chief Ellis Burns says that means not just inside the stadium, but throughout nearby neighborhoods and private parking lots, which are areas expected to be packed despite ongoing construction.
