MONROE, N.C. — A 71-year-old Monroe man was arrested following a road rage incident where he allegedly pointed a gun at people on the highway while driving.

Curtis Ciampo is accused of simple assault and possession of a firearm by a felon.

The incident started on Highway 74 where traffic was backed up due to an earlier collision, according to Monroe Police Department. Drivers reported to the police that a driver of a pickup truck has pointed a gun at them.

When officers caught up to Ciampo, they found two ghost guns in the truck. Ghost guns are privately made firearms. These weapons are not made by licensed manufacturers, do not have serial numbers and are untraceable, according to ATF .
