FORT DODGE — There were repeat state champions across the board in Class 3A at the 2025 Iowa state cross country championships on Oct. 31 at the Lakeside Municipal Golf Course.
Western Dubuque's Quentin Nauman set a new record in winning the 3A boys title, and Pella's Marissa Ferebee followed up her record 2024 performance with another state title in the 3A girls race. In the 3A team competition, the Pella girls and Gilbert boys dominated for the third year in a row, with the Dutch scoring 31 points and the Tigers 71.
Nauman ran a 5-kilometer time under 15 minutes for the second year in a row. This time he broke the state-record 5-kilometer mark of 14:56.66 set by former Dowling Catholic runner Jackson Heidesch in 2022 when he crossed the finish line in 14 minutes, 48.3 seconds.
