ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. — The drive-through component of a free meals service provided to Kentucky's senior citizens is going away for several counties by the end of the year, amid financial constraints.
That’s according to the Lincoln Trail Area Development District (LTADD) , the organization overseeing the state's senior meals program in eight Kentucky counties, including Hardin, Nelson, and Meade, serving 1,700 people.
It comes despite an extra $9 million distributed by the Beshear administration to keep the program afloat through next June.
“We're still going to be about $300,000 short statewide," said Daniel London, LTADD's executive director. “It's challenging.”
