A 39-year-old man already serving a life sentence for murder has been arrested in connection with three additional killings in Long Beach dating back two decades, police said on Friday, Oct. 31.

Glenn Cox was booked Oct. 17 on suspicion of three counts of murder, one count of attempted murder and two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm, Long Beach police said.

He is imprisoned at Avenal State Prison for an unrelated murder and attempted murder case.

Authorities said Cox confessed to several killings and an attempted murder to a staff member at the prison, who alerted detectives. Investigators later obtained additional confessions and corroborating evidence linking him to the three Long Beach shootings from 2004 to 2007, police said.
