EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — As the government shutdown enters its second month, thousands in the Tri-State area are poised to lose their benefits.

At the CK Newsome Center in Evansville, preparations are underway to address the crisis.

Lisa Vaughan from Feed Evansville shared what is being done to prevent hunger among those affected by the loss of SNAP benefits.

"Today we are announcing the complete plan, it's called our Readiness Plan from the Commission of Food Security," Vaughan said. "So, our step one was basically that we were going to get a comprehensive list... we already had that list from our COVID days but we wanted to make sure that list is complete.
