Chesterton Police captured a man late Friday afternoon after an intensive search following a gun being fired in the 900 block of S. 19th Street.
No one was hurt in the original incident, which occurred around 1:30 p.m.
Police captured the man in the 600 block of Wabash Avenue at about 4:50 p.m., Chesterton Police Chief Tim Richardson said.
It was 40 minutes before the annual Halloween Trick-or-Treat celebration in neighborhoods was going to start.
Police were originally called on the report of a disturbance, where a shot was fired.
The young man who fired the shot was described as a Hispanic, who is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs around 150 pounds. The man was reported to have facial tattoos.
