A death was reported in Oregon as a result of a growing listeria outbreak tied to pre-cooked pasta meals sold at grocery stores nationwide.
The outbreak goes back to August 2024, though California supplier Nate’s Fine Foods most recently recalled nearly 245,000 pounds of pasta products , per a September U.S. Food & Drug Administration notice.
At least 27 illnesses across 18 states have been reported as a result of the outbreak, according to a Thursday update by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention — six of which resulted in death. Of the two most recent deaths reported, one took place in Oregon.
Additional deaths occurred in Hawaii, Illinois, Michigan, Texas, and Utah. One illness associated with a pregnant individual resulted in fetal loss, according to the CDC.
