AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – Halloween is here, and the Amarillo Police Department, along with Andrea's Project, is working to inform the public on how they can enjoy the holiday while also staying safe.

According to Andera's Project, nearly 4 in 10 traffic deaths on Halloween night involve a drunk Driver. The organization added that pedestrian deaths on Halloween are 43% higher than an average evening.

"Just being out on Halloween night increases your risk, especially in the costumes. Some of them can make it very difficult to see, you know, especially on Halloween, and black is a very common color. So there's a risk out there," added Executive Director Dr. Shanna James.
