LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The Louisville Metro Police Department is joining Metro government and other local agencies in creating a task force that targets illegal massage parlors in the Louisville area. Experts warn that these illicit businesses often serve as fronts for organized human trafficking and exploitation.
Out of approximately 375 massage businesses in Jefferson County, police estimate that 35 to 40 are operating illegally. Officer Dan Marsden with the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) Sixth Division said illegal oftentimes is a front for human trafficking and exploitation.
