MARION, Ill. (KFVS) - The Marion Elks are cooking up some fun this weekend for a good cause with the 16 th Annual Southern Illinois Chili Cookoff.

It’s happening on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, just off the Marion Square next to the Civic Center.

For just $10, attendees can taste chili from dozens of contestants. There will also be a silent auction.

City leaders say the event has raised more than $280,000 over the years, and it all stays in southern Illinois.

This year, the proceeds will help Heartland organizations, including the Fowler-Bonan Foundation, Kozy Kids, The Heartland Rotary iPad Project, and The Lighthouse Shelter.
