A man has been found guilty of first-degree murder for his role in a fatal mass shooting at an Edmonton nightclub.

Court of King’s Bench Justice Eric Macklin said it was “sheer good luck” that there were no more than seven people injured and one killed in a hail of bullets outside the Ertale Lounge on March 12, 2022.

The judge found Samatar Mohiadin, 28, was the first of four gunmen to open fire outside the club around 2:45 a.m., just outside a fenced patio where about a dozen patrons were mingling.

He handed him a mandatory life sentence with no parole eligibility for 25 years.
