HAZELTON, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Election day is next week, and the Valley School District is hoping voters will approve a supplemental levy after rejecting a previous one last spring.

It’s been the same levy the district has put on the ballot since 2010. The cost has remained the same: $300,000. Superintendent of the Valley School District Ty Jones said $270,000 of it would go towards salaries and benefits for teachers and staff.

“What it does is it goes in into the fund that we get from the state, that supplements the amount of teachers that we’re currently receiving dollars for from the state,” Superintendent Jones said.

The remaining funds would go toward student travel expenses for extra curricular activities, which is not covered by the state.
