A Carpentersville man, on parole for first-degree murder and predatory criminal sexual assault in the 1997 death of his former girlfriend’s 20-month-old daughter, has been charged with violating the terms of his release.

Cayce Williams, 52, formerly of Elgin, faces two counts of failure to register as a sex offender, two counts of failure to inform law enforcement of information change and a child sex offender residing in a day care zone, which is a class 4 felony.

At his first Kane County court hearing on the charges, Williams appeared via Zoom Thursday in the courtroom of 16th Circuit Associate Judge Dave Kliment.

Kilment disclosed that he represented Williams on the 1997 murder charge when he served as the Kane County public defender.
