APPOMATTOX COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - Four people were hospitalized after a crash involving a tractor trailer and school bus Friday, October 31, according to Virginia State Police.

Virginia State Police responded at 4:30 p.m. to a multi-vehicle crash involving an Appomattox County school bus and tractor trailer on the 13600 block of Richmond Hwy on Route 460.

The preliminary investigation shows a driver of a tractor trailer traveling westbound struck a Chevy pickup truck, according to police. Police say the impact forced the pickup off the road, causing it to overturn and strike a child that had just gotten off the school bus. The driver of the tractor trailer then struck the rear of the school bus, according to police.
