LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Two families lost their homes Friday evening when a fire spread from a house to an apartment complex on East Stewart Street.
The Laredo Fire Department received initial reports of the fire around 6 p.m. in the 2200 block of East Stewart Street.
Officials with LFD said the fire started in the back part of the home and spread to an apartment complex behind it. Firefighters were able to put the flames out.
A family of five lived in the home, and all were treated for smoke inhalation. A family of seven people lived in the apartment. No one was taken to the hospital, and no injuries were reported.
The American Red Cross is helping both families, as both homes were deemed a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
