MoDOT announced Callaway County Route FF (Old U.S. Route 40) is open, and height restrictions have been removed. The project began on Oct. 14 and ended on Oct. 30. Construction was completed several weeks ahead of schedule, and the supporting structure of the bridge will be removed on a date that has yet to be determined. The Statewide Improve I-70 program, managed by MoDOT, will add three lanes in both directions along the 20-mile stretch of I-70 from Columbia to Kingdom City. This $405 million fixed-cost contract also includes new pavement for all lanes and improvements to interchanges with U.S. Route 63 and U.S. Route 54. Part of the state's FY2024 budget, $2.8 billion in General Revenue will allow for a third lane to be built on I-70 across the state.
