RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) - Rankin County deputies announced a man was injured after he shot himself during a standoff.
According to Investigator Tyler Burnell, with the Rankin County Sheriff's Office, deputies received a call about a suicidal man at a residence off of North Shore Parkway just before 7:45 p.m. on October 31, 2025. Deputies responded to the scene and were unable to locate the man.
Burnell said deputies were later able to locate the man's vehicle at the Lakeland Place Memorial Cemetery on Lakeland Drive. As deputies attempted to check the welfare of the man, deputies said they confirmed he was armed and standoff ensued.
After negotiations with the man, Burnell said the man fired a single shot into his torso. Medical personnel arrived at the scene and transported the man
