PORTLAND, Maine — These absolutely adorable chinchillas are available for adoption.

Fozie and Kermit are two baby chinchillas. They're only 6 months old and 3 months old, respectively. These two are a bonded pair and must go home together.

Mr. Bingly is a 2-year-old chinchilla that is very sweet and very easy to handle and hold.

(The fourth chinchilla shown in this segment is not available for adoption. He is an "ambassador" to help teach people how to handle chinchillas.)

Chinchillas are most active at dawn and dusk but often settle in with the beat of the household. They are very intelligent creatures and can be taught how to communicate.

However, it is notable that they are prey animals, so they require a household with no other types of pets—certainly not cats or dogs.
