WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Traffic was shut down in the College Hill neighborhood for five hours, allowing families a safe environment to go trick-or-treating and allowing homeowners to go all out on Halloween traditions. From a “Thriller” flash mob to a house decked out in full “Stranger Things” style, the neighborhood always comes out for Halloween.
“It’s the community aspect,” said Elizabeth Lewis, who along with her husband gave their house a Harry Potter theme for the third year in a row. “Just seeing everyone out, getting to have people over.”
It’s a tradition that goes back to 1977. According to the residents, two neighbors decided to decorate their houses for fun... and it took off from there.
