TORONTO -- There would be no Canadian coronation in Game 6. Not with Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound. Not with Mookie Betts remembering that he’s Mookie Betts. Not with the Dodgers reasserting their postseason pedigree.

And so this wonderful World Series, which has already seen the evenly matched Dodgers and Blue Jays torment each other in an 18-inning affair, gets what it deserves -- a Game 7 on Saturday night. The Dodgers assured us of that with their 3-1 victory Friday at Rogers Centre.

Yamamoto didn’t go the distance, as he had done in his two previous postseason starts, including Game 2 of this World Series. But he was plenty effective in six innings of work, outdueling Kevin Gausman and backed by a three-run third inning that made all the difference.
