The Bishop Dwenger football team’s defense forced five turnovers and scored twice in their 21-0 sectional semifinal win over Columbia City on Friday at Shields Field.
Bishop Dwenger will move on to the sectional finals next week, where they’ll play host to undefeated East Noble.
In a game where both sides played sluggish and penalty-riddled offense, the Saints broke through with defensive touchdowns by senior defensive backs Jackson Parrish and Houston Ellinger.
“Our defense got us in rhythm,” Bishop Dwenger coach Jason Garrett said. “We definitely won the turnover battle. Those were some big moments. The two defensive scores, they set the tone for us and allowed us to kind of settle down a little bit on offense.”
