KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Scarritt Renaissance neighborhood in northeast Kansas City has hosted “Scare-it” Halloween for 30 years, but this one will be its last.

Each year, they invite anyone who can make it to trick or treat with them.

“The mission has always been to make sure that kids in the urban core have a safe place to trick or treat,” said neighborhood president Dylan Van Gerpen.

One house takes the event very seriously, and this year, chose to honor the 40th anniversary of the release of “Back to the Future”. Homeowner Jeff Zumsteg said he had no idea what he was in for when he moved in.

“I was not warned in advance,” he said.

“But we quickly got on board each year to try to do better and outdo ourselves every year.”
