MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A new automated license plate reader camera system (ALPR) is now active in Baraboo, the city’s police department announced on Thursday.
Chief Justin K. Carloni said this piece of technology is an important step forward in improving public safety.
“The ALPR system will help us solve crimes faster, locate missing or endangered individuals, and keep our community safe,” said Chief Carloni.
The police department stated the system will help identify vehicles connected to crimes, missing persons, AMBER Alerts and Silver Alerts.
Officials also added that this system will allow officers to engage more in the community and improve efficiency by reducing investigative time.
