CARRBORO — Salisbury’s girls tennis team lost in the 4A East Regional final on Thursday at Carrboro.
Carrboro won 5-0. One singles match was not finished.
Carrboro has a powerful team.
In last Saturday’s 4A individual state championships in Burlington, two Carrboro players squared off in the singles final.
Two more Carrboro players — freshmen Bea Unwin and Claire O’Brien — finished as state runner-up in doubles, losing to a Lake Norman Charter team in the final. That Carroboro doubles team beat Salisbury’s top doubles unit of Meredith Williams-Anna Kate Goodman — in straight sets in the quarterfinals.
Salisbury finished 17-3 with a South Piedmont Conference championship (14-0) and three playoff wins under first-year coach Teen Aron.
