HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - The ninth-ranked team in the Alice Lloyd College Mountain Top Ten improved to 9-1 with a 45-26 victory against Hazard.
Early on, William Shoptaw connected with Javion Fullwood for a touchdown to make it 7-7.
Somerset countered with some quick strike offense, with Xavier Wooldridge getting into the end zone. Briar Jumpers went ahead, 14-7.
Clay Clevinger’s squad extended their advantage with a house call from Kris Hughes, 21-7.
Hazard responded with Shoptaw linking up with Gavin Johnson before the end of the first half.
Somerset hosts Washington County to start their playoff campaign. Kickoff was scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 7.
Hazard hosts Pineville for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff to open the postseason on Nov. 7.
