WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (KABC) -- Thousands of Halloween revelers took to the streets on Friday night for the annual West Hollywood Carnaval .
The beloved annual celebration officially got underway at 6 p.m. and was scheduled to continue until 11 p.m. on Santa Monica Boulevard between Doheny Drive and La Cienega Boulevard.
The street festival is touted by the city as transforming Santa Monica Boulevard into "a mile-long celebration of costumes, creativity, music and community." It features a live DJ, food trucks and live entertainment.
"We've been months and and months and months of planning for this event," said Sgt. Jason Duron of Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. "We're increasing our patrols, we have hundreds of deputies on foot out here at the festival, keeping roads block
