Founded in 1948 in Chembur, Mumbai, RK Studios became the creative nucleus of Hindi cinema under Raj Kapoor’s visionary leadership. However, after Raj Kapoor’s passing in 1988, the studio’s magic began to fade. The industry’s rapid evolution, shifting audience tastes, and rising production costs led to a gradual slowdown. A devastating fire in 2017 destroyed much of the studio’s irreplaceable archives, and a year later, the Kapoor family sold the Chembur property - marking the close of a glorious chapter in Indian film history.
