New Delhi: Shreyas Iyer has been discharged from a Sydney hospital and is now in a stable condition, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed.
He will not return to India immediately though. Iyer will “continue to stay in Sydney for follow-up consultations and will return to India once he is deemed fit to fly,” BCCI has said. ADVERTISEMENT
The Indian cricketer hurt himself while fielding during the third and final ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
According to the latest bulletin issued by BCCI, the right-handed batter sustained a “blunt injury to his abdomen” while fielding, which caused a laceration to his spleen and internal bleeding. The Board confirmed that the bleeding was “immediately arrested following a minor procedure.”
