MEDINA, Ohio – Due to a lack of fallen leaves, the city has had to revise its leaf pickup program this year.
“The program is slowly rolling out, but the leaves just seem to be hanging on,” Service Director Nino Piccoli said Oct. 27. “Some folks also haven’t had the opportunity to rake the leaves that have fallen out to the curb. We do have two trucks out collecting leaves and we plan to increase the staff on that as needed moving forward. Hopefully we will be able to collect all the leaves before snow falls.”
Piccoli has said that once the weather turns cold and the leaves are covered with snow and ice, they can’t be picked up until they thaw because the snow and ice damage the vacuum equipment on city trucks.
