MEDINA, Ohio – The city’s municipal deer control program which permits archery hunting in certain locations within the Medina city limits is in full swing and some local hunters have taken advantage of the program.
Lt. Bryan Wagner announced Oct. 27 that 23 deer have been successfully harvested so far this year under the program.
“I would remind the public to be very cautious on the roadway though as we are entering peak breeding season so deer will be more active,” he said.
Service Director Nino Piccoli said deer being struck in the roadway continues to be a problem. He said street staff has picked up 122 deer from city streets so far this year.
