Kalaburagi: Members of the Kalyana Karnataka Pratyeka Rajya Horata Samiti were taken into police custody as they attempted to hoist a flag symbolic of a state separate from Karnataka, amid Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations in the city on Saturday morning.

Samiti President MS Patil Naribola led the procession for the flag hoisting ceremony from Jagat Circle to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Circle, when the city police intervened and detained Naribola and several other activists of the Samiti.

The activists expressed their ire towards the Karnataka government for neglecting the Kalyana Karnataka region and failing to work at its progress in spite of the region getting prominence under Article 371(J).
