Nottingham Forest’s City Ground has been their home since 1898, so the idea of leaving is almost unthinkable.
However, that could have happened earlier in this century had England’s 2018 World Cup bid been successful.
Plans were unveiled in 2009 to move Forest to a stunning, albeit controversial, new home about a mile away from the city centre.
The current City Ground is nestled on the banks of the River Trent, a stone’s throw from the centre, and is sandwiched between Trent Bridge and Meadow Lane (the home of Notts County).

Nottingham City Council, who owned the City Ground at the time, ruled out redevelopment work in 2009 and forced the club to look elsewhere.
