While the monthlong federal government shutdown has produced flight delays, cancellations and even temporary closures at a number of airports across the nation, it's been business as usual — for passengers, at least — at Charleston's West Virginia International Yeager Airport.
Staffing issues involving federal air traffic controllers and Transportation Security Administration officers — required to work without pay during the shutdown — have contributed to flight delays elsewhere , mainly at larger airports.
But at CRW, "the airport has not had any impacts from the government shutdown yet, and our federal employees continue to work without pay," said Paige Withrow, chief marketing officer for the Charleston airport.
