One of college football's fiercest rivalries will kick off this weekend.
A No. 5 Georgia team still firmly in the hunt for an SEC championship and a College Football Playoff appearance will aim to keep its title dreams alive when it takes on Florida on Saturday, Nov. 1 at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville in the latest edition in the game formerly known as the "World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party."

It will be the Gators' first game since coach Billy Napier was fired on Oct. 19, seven games into his fourth season at the school. After earning a No. 17 ranking in the preseason US LBM Coaches Poll, Florida has struggled with a 3-4 record, though three of its four losses came against teams that were ranked in the top 10 at the time of the matchup. The Gators, who are coming off a bye week, will be led by interim head coach Billy Gonzales.
Gonzales' first test will be a considerable one. A Georgia program that has been the class of the SEC for much of the past five years under Kirby Smart has raced out to a 6-1 start, propelled in part by an explosive offense averaging 33.7 points per game behind quarterback Gunner Stockton (1,832 total yards, 17 total touchdowns).
The Bulldogs have dominated the series' recent history, winning seven of the eight matchups since 2017, including each of the past four.

A dead-cat bounce after a bye week and a coaching firing — and whatever wacky, unexpected play-calling that might come from that — can't be discounted, but it's incredibly difficult to imagine what has been an impotent Florida offense keeping up with Georgia. Though, hey, weirder things have happened in this series.
