Amid the ongoing federal government shutdown, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits may not be distributed in November.

SNAP is a federal program that provides low-income families with monthly benefits to afford healthy food.

A federal judge on Oct. 31 indicated she will order the Trump administration to use contingency funds to pay for SNAP.

Through the turmoil, Lane County residents have taken to social media, creating Facebook groups, posting lists of resources and asking where to make donations to support the 75,000 SNAP recipients in Lane County. Several local pantries have already called for more support as stock runs low.
