Millions of pensioners will begin to spot Winter Fuel Payments in their bank accounts from today, Saturday, November 1.

The payments, worth up to £300, are issued by the Government during November and December to help older people with their energy bills over winter.

Over-65s will qualify this year if they have annual incomes below £35,000, under new rules put in place by the Government.

Those who are aged under 80 will get £200 while those over 80 will get £300.

Money will enter bank accounts automatically and there's no need to apply.
