The last election was a mere six months ago. So, it may come as some surprise that the scuttlebutt around Ottawa is that another one may be just around the corner.

Who wants to have another election? Seemingly, no one. No politicians (or so they claim). Certainly, very few Canadians are looking forward to trudging to the polls just a few short months after the last election.

The brave volunteers who help out in election campaigns certainly don’t want to be knocking on doors and delivering pamphlets in the dead of the Canadian Winter.

So, given all that, why might we get one anyway?

Because Mark Carney’s Liberal government, its protests to the contrary notwithstanding, is gunning for an election. Carney and Co. are betting that they can transform their slim minority
