Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad received a threat email on Saturday claiming there was a "human bomb" onboard an IndiGo flight from Jeddah to Hyderabad. Following the threat, the aircraft was diverted to Mumbai, where it landed safely, police said.
Airport authorities lodged a complaint with police, stating that the threat email was received around 5:30 am. The email warned to "prevent landing of IndiGo (flight) in Hyderabad" and further stated that "...onboard LTTE-ISI operatives have planned a major 1984 Madras Airport Modus operandi style blast," police said.
All stakeholders were alerted, and the flight was diverted to Mumbai airport, where it landed safely. Authorities carried out all security checks and found no issues, police added.
