The Alberta Federation of Labour, the AFL, rallies the union troops this past week.

They look into the future and see the possibility of hundreds of thousands of workers from across Alberta walking off the job.

They have the Canadian Labour Congress on board, pledging support from across the country.

“Our purpose is to topple the government,” shouts Gil McGowan of the AFL, to cheers and whistles of support.

The AFL numero uno says Smith and the UCP must pay a price for their actions. That’s the teacher strike.

There could be a general strike. McGowan says the idea is firmly on the table. The unions are organizing.
