A University of Toledo sociology professor who studies social inequities is the speaker for Thursday’s Better Toledo seminar at the Main Library downtown.

Monita Mungo, an associate professor, presents Increasing Our Understanding of Privilege from 3 to 5 p.m. in the library’s first-floor Large Glass Meeting Room, 325 N. Michigan St.

Ms. Mungo holds a master’s degree in dispute resolution and a doctorate in sociology. Her research is focused on how social inequities serve as a barrier to educational achievement and career development.

“Her primary goal is to educate students so that they are capable and willing to improve the human condition, stimulate the local economy, and create opportunities for future generations,” a news release from the library said.
