NEW HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - A person who was reported missing on Friday was found dead in the Farmington River.

Troopers were called to investigate after a concerned resident saw their neighbor’s dog run up to her door with the leash still attached and without the owner, state police said.

It was revealed that the neighbor was last seen walking in the parking lot with their dog at around 3:30 p.m.

Police initiated a search with the help of a patrol K9 but the individual wasn’t located.

At around 10:22 p.m. a person was found in the Farmington River near Main Street in New Hartford with assist of State Police drones.

Crews were able to recover the individual, but they were pronounced dead on scene.
