NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, known as SNAP, are officially on pause due to the government shutdown, however, an order from two federal judges could change that.

Two judges from Rhode Island and Massachusetts ruled on Friday that the Trump Administration must continue the SNAP program using contingency funds. The administration now has until Monday to come up with a funding plan, though the rulings are also expected to face some appeals.

In the meantime, New York Governor Kathy Hochul has declared a food emergency for the state, along with $65 million in emergency food funding. Her office has also launched an online portal to help residents find food banks, pantries, and other resources in their area.
