NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. —
South Carolina Representative and candidate for governor Nancy Mace was involved in a confrontation with airport police, according to an incident report obtained by NBC News.
The report states Charleston International Airport Police had arranged to escort Rep. Mace to her flight Thursday morning, but there was a mix-up about her vehicle.
The report says officers found Mace at a crew entrance TSA checkpoint. It states Mace began cursing at officers and berating them.
TSA agents are among the federal workers who are working without pay during the shutdown.
The campaign spokesperson for Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette, also a candidate for governor, responded Saturday morning, saying:
