A main road was shut in both directions following an early-morning "road traffic incident" in County Durham. The closure, near the BP garage in Ferryhill, was initially expected to be in place for a "considerable time", according to police.
Emergency services, including Durham Constabulary , the North East Ambulance Service and the Great North Air Ambulance, attended the incident at the junction with Dean Road around 1.30am on Saturday, November 1. The road was later reopened around 10.45am, but the BP garage itself was cordoned off and officers remained on site.
A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary stated: "There is currently a road closure in place near to the BP garage in Ferryhill. The road is closed in both directions and at the junction of Dean Road.
