Baltimore City Senator Dalya Attar (D-District 41) was indicted, along with her brother, Joseph, and now-suspended Baltimore Police Officer Kalman Finkelstein in connection with a federal extortion and conspiracy case last week.

They are accused of trying to blackmail a former political consultant. The indictment claims they installed fake smoke detectors with cameras to expose a relationship between the consultant and a married man.

The indictment only identifies the former consultant as “Victim 1”. Court documents detail messages between the suspects, including one from Attar that says: “We have one big bullet, and that bullet can be split into pieces, so if we show (Victim 1) a warning that we’re willing to show the video, we’re not afraid to show the video, it will scare (Victim 1).”
