The race to succeed Rep. Angie Nixon in House District 13 continues to draw interest.
Audrey Gibson , the former leader of the Democrats in the Florida Senate, officially opened her campaign account Thursday.
Gibson is the third candidate to begin a campaign in the Duval County district, joining former Jacksonville City Councilman Reggie Gaffney and first-time candidate Shemiah Rutledge .
Gibson ran to be Chair of the Florida Democratic Party after leaving the administration of Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan last year, but ultimately fell short in her bid to replace Nikki Fried .
As a former leader of the Senate Democrats, she is well acquainted with the process in the State Capital, and has been productive in scoring wins for her constituents as well.
