For someone who isn’t a fan of baking, Jess Farrell has gained a large following because of it.
Six months ago, the mother of three and former sous chef at The Combine Restaurant opened The Bread Shed at her home near Waterford.

“I don’t like baking, I like cooking, but I feel like sourdough is different for me,” Farrell said with a smile. “Standard baking is where you’re using such strict measurements, where with sourdough, you can break the rules, and that’s what I like.”
In past years, Farrell garnered attention online by posting photos of her homemade meals. The food looked so good that many suggested she open her own restaurant.
